Looking for an unconventional venue for your wedding? The Arts House, which was Singapore’s first Parliament House, just might fit the bill. Originally built in 1827 as a mansion for wealthy merchant John Maxwell, The Arts House is now one of Singapore’s oldest heritage buildings.

The historical building houses photo exhibitions, musicals and plays, but it also makes for a unique place to hold a wedding. Depending on your tastes and requirements, you can pick from three different rooms for your wedding: the Chamber, Gallery and Blue Room. Sure, the place may not have a grand staircase for you to walk down from, but The Arts House still has a special charm to it. Plus, how many people can say that they held their wedding at the Supreme Court?

I know what you’re thinking – a wedding at…an aquarium? Really? The S.E.A Aquarium at Resorts World Sentosa is a different story though. I mean, toasting to your wedded bliss with the world’s largest viewing panel as your backdrop? Can’t say that it’ll be yet another boring wedding dinner.

The venue, which also happens to be the world’s largest aquarium, has three different areas for events – the Ocean Gallery (which has the viewing panel), the Ocean Dome (a more intimate space) and the Ocean Restaurant.

For more information on these venues at the S.E.A Aquarium, see here.

5. Forest Lodge, Singapore Zoo

The zoo might seem like an unconventional venue for your big day, but the Singapore Zoo is an award-winning wildlife park with a unique landscape. Also, it’s probably one of the few places in Singapore where you can ride in on a horse-drawn carriage (or elephant, if you so wish) – yes, just like in the movies. You also have the option to release butterflies when you exchange your vows, so your heart won’t be the only thing fluttering (pun intended).

Although the Singapore Zoo has several venues for events, the Forest Lodge is the most ideal for a wedding dinner or lunch. The 220-seat venue is air-conditioned (thank goodness), and decked in earthy brown tones for a rustic feel.
