4. For those on a budget: Marina Barrage
We’ve all been there – staying in for New Year’s Eve because well, our bank accounts don’t exactly allow for any splurging on overpriced alcohol and food. There there, do not despair – you can still have fun on a budget, especially if you get creative about it. Pack some food and a picnic mat, then head down to Marina Barrage for a night under the stars. The open space at Marina Bay is one of Singapore’s prime picnic spots, especially since you’ll be able to get a good view of the annual New Year’s Eve fireworks display. We recommend taking public transport there (can anyone say traffic jam?), but if you must drive, head down earlier to score a good spot.
Time: The earlier the better.
Price: Free
Address: Marina Barrage, 8 Marina Gardens Drive, Singapore 018951

5. For the entire family: Universal Studios Singapore
If you’re ringing in the new year with your family (toddler, teenager, granny and all), Universal Studios Singapore may just have something for everyone. The award-winning theme park will be open until 1am (yes, rides included) so you can soak in the celebratory atmosphere all night long. Besides a massive carnival with live performers, LED stilt walkers and music, there will also be a dazzling pyrotechnics light display at Lake Hollywood. Because what’s New Year’s Eve without some fireworks eh?
Time: 5pm – 1am
Admission: $61 per adult (with a minimum purchase of 2 tickets online)
Address: Universal Studios Singapore, Resorts World Sentosa, 8 Sentosa Gateway, Singapore 098269

6. For the beach lover: Siloso Beach Party
The annual Siloso Beach Party at Sentosa is back again this year, with 12 hours straight of electronic dance music. Dance the night away with sand in your toes, the wind in your face and…possibly foam in your hair too (because, foam party). This year’s edition features five different zones with both local and international acts. Survival tip: book your ride home in advance, lest you want to be stranded in Sentosa at 5am in the morning (it happens).
Time: 6pm – 6am
Price: $65
Address: Siloso Beach, 51 Imbiah Walk, Sentosa, Singapore 099538
