Christmas Events In Singapore 2015

In need of some festive spirit? Here are some Christmas events to check out this month!

1. Christmas Wonderland at Gardens by the Bay

If there’s one event to check out this month, it’s Christmas Wonderland at Gardens by the Bay. The month-long affair, which is also Singapore’s biggest yuletide fair, features a whole host of activities and attractions to get you into the festive mood.

Travel back in time with the amazing handcrafted Luminarie light sculptures reminiscent of the medieval period, or dine at the Spiegeltent tent topped with stained glass, brocade draperies and handcrafted masterpieces.

Other attractions include a European-style Christmas Market, a snow playground and skating rink, carnival rides and even a carousel (!!). This is probably as close to a white Christmas as you’ll ever get on our sunny shores, so don’t miss out on it.

For a full list of attractions, see here.

Dates: Runs daily until 3 January 2016
Time: 4pm – 12am
Venue: Gardens by the Bay, 18 Marina Gardens Drive, Singapore 018953
Admission: Free

2. Christmas Market at Resorts World Sentosa

If you’re in the mood for some Christmas gallivanting, check out the first ever Christmas Market at Resorts World Sentosa. The festive market, which is open daily throughout the day, features stalls selling Christmas novelty items from vendors like Yankee Candle, as well as food and drinks from Hard Rock Cafe and more.

Oh, and we hear that they also have a stall selling customisable macaron ice cream sandwiches. If that isn’t a reason in itself to check out the Christmas Market, I don’t know what is.

Dates: Runs until 3 January 2016
Time: 10am to 10pm
Venue: Bull Ring at Resorts World Sentosa (near the entrance plaza to Universal Studios Singapore), 8 Sentosa Gateway, Singapore 098269

Aiseh.

7. Christmas Carollers by the Singapore River

Take a stroll along the Singapore River and enjoy the melodic voices of local choirs, as they cruise down in river boats while carolling (props to them for being able to stand on a shaky boat and sing at the same time).

There will also be a light installation at Boat Quay and a Luminous Forest (aka 8-metre tall LED Christmas structures) spanning from Robertson Quay to Boat Quay.

Dates: 4 – 5, 18 – 19 December 2015

There may not be any major festive movies this year, but hey, what’s wrong with re-watching a Christmas classic? Relive the Christmas love and laughter at The Screening Room, as they screen classics like Love Actually, The Holiday and more. If you’re not in the mood for anything mushy, you’ll be pleased to know that The Screening Room will also be holding a Star Wars movie marathon as well – just in time for the launch of the highly-anticipated The Force Awakens.

9. Secret Santa 2

We know you love your Christmas presents, but you know what just might be the best present you’ll ever get this year? Good karma, and that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you help others in need. This Christmas, give back to society by buying pillows as gifts. Yup, pillows.

Organised by local organisation Happy People Helping People Foundation, Secret Santa 2 is a charity drive to collect (new) pillows for the elderly cardboard box collectors at Toa Payoh. Leave a comment on their Facebook page if you wish to pledge a pillow (or two) – and don’t forget to wrap them up!

Craving for a Christmas adventure of a different kind? Try Christmas in the Dark, where you’ll eat, drink and play Christmas-themed games in the dark.

Organised by Dialogue in the Dark Singapore, which aims to raise awareness and facilitate inclusion for marginalised people in the community, Christmas in the Dark will challenge your senses – and perhaps even your perceptions of stereotypes. And hey, being in the dark means you’ll connect better with your friends too, since you won’t all be busy trying to Snapchat the moment.

Dates: 13 to 23 December 2015
Time: 9am to 5pm
Venue: Dialogue in the Dark, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, 535 Clementi Road, Singapore 599489
