Ah, GIFs – you’ve used them one too many times in your Telegram chats, and now there’s an entire festival devoted to the animated stickers. Inspired by the theme of illusions, NOISE x GIF Fest explores the new artistic medium and its popularity among our tech-obsessed generation. Besides workshops, talks and an exhibition of animated works, the festival will also feature live performances by local writer Deborah Emmanuel and indie-electronic band .gif.

Need some laughs to unwind from the grind? Martial arts comedy JUMP will have you in stitches all night. The popular performance, which hails from Korea, centres around a martial arts family that start a hilarious battle when burglars break into their home in the middle of the night. Be prepared for an adrenaline-pumping display of martial arts prowess, acrobatic acts and of course, enough slapstick humour to leave you chuckling all night.

Bored of your usual dinner and movie routine? Change things up with a different kind of film experience at the Perspectives Film Festival. The student-run event celebrates breakthroughs in cinema, through a curated selection of film screenings. This year’s edition shines the spotlight on mavericks who have challenged the norm, from Matthew Heineman’s City of Ghosts, which highlights the courage of Syrian group Raqqa Is Being Slaughtered Silently (RBSS) to Black Girl, a story about a black Senegalese woman who moves to France to work for a white family. 4. Backstreet Boys: Larger Than Life Singapore
