5 Things To Do In July 2016

1. Singapore Theatre Festival

If you’re a fan of the local arts scene, the Singapore Theatre Festival will be right up your alley. Celebrating contemporary Singaporean theatre, the three week-long festival will present a series of productions by both emerging and established local playwrights. Notable plays this year include Geylang, written and directed by Rodney Oliveiro, and Hotel, directed by Ivan Heng and Glen Goei. See here for the full list of plays.

2. Geylang Serai Hari Raya Bazaar

Hari Raya Puasa is just around the corner, so of course you have to check out the famous Geylang Serai Bazaar right? Besides clothes, Malay goodies and even home furnishings, the bazaar also has a few notable hipster vendors this year. Expect Instaworthy treats like Rainbow Bagels, Kinder Bueno Milkshakes and Watermelon Volcanos (#yaaaas). Oh, and have we mentioned how most of the stalls at the bazaar are open late? Late-night shopping (and snacking) FTW.

3. Selena Gomez Revival Tour

Everyone’s favourite Disney star turned sultry pop princess will be in Singapore next month for a one-night only concert. Yup, we’re talking about Selena Gomez and yes, she’ll be belting out hit songs like Hands to Myself, Same Old Love and more.

4. Broadway Beng: 10th Anniversary Concert

Singapore’s Broadway-loving Ah Beng Sebastian Tan is back again this year for more Hokkien humour, nostalgia and getai tunes. This year’s edition celebrates Broadway Beng’s 10th Anniversary, so you can expect loads of laughs, local jokes and of course, singing.

5. Singapore City Race 2016

Fancy exploring some of Singapore’s most iconic landmarks, The Amazing Race-style? The Singapore City Race is a free-form foot race that will take you throughout some of our island’s most well-known spots. Unlike traditional marathons, the Singapore City Race doesn’t have a specific route to follow. Instead, participants are given a race map with marked control points across Singapore – how you get to each checkpoint is up to you, as long as you travel by foot. Time to gather your best buds for an amazing afternoon of adventure, perhaps?
