Snapchat-Worthy desserts that actually taste as good as they look? Yup, now you can have your cake AND eat it too.
1. Non-Entrée Desserts
Address: 204 Rangoon Road, Singapore 218 451 | Opening Hours: 2pm – 10pm (Tue to Thu), 2pm – 11pm (Fri), 12pm – 11pm (Sat), 12pm – 10pm (Sun)
Located next to the famous Ng Ah Sio Bak Kut Teh along Rangoon Road, Non-Entrée Desserts is a fairly new cafe that specialises in well, desserts. I know what you’re thinking – Instaworthy desserts are a dime a dozen these days, so what? Well young Padawan, the difference lies in just how Instaworthy these desserts are. You see, most of the desserts at Non-Entrée Desserts are like works of art. They’re so pretty that you might cry. Or never stop Snapchatting it. Or even – OK well, you get my drift.
Take their Matcha Avalanche for instance – a warm matcha-flavoured lava cake perched atop a glass bowl of gelato and chocolate soil (thoughtfully made to look like a little garden). Pierce the lava cake and the molten matcha centre oozes out unapologetically. Guaranteed to send your Snapchat into overdrive.
Oh and if you’re wondering – yes, the Matcha Avalanche is indeed as delicious as it looks.
Must-try dessert: Matcha Avalanche. Also wished I tried the Rubber Ducky Creme Fraiche pudding, but I fear it’ll be too pretty to eat.
2. Fatcat Ice Cream Bar
Address: Blk 416 Bedok North Avenue 2 #01-25, Singapore 460416 | Opening Hours: 1pm – 9.30pm (Mon to Thu), 1pm – 10.30pm (Fri), 12pm – 10.30pm (Sat), 12pm – 9.30pm (Sun) | Tel: 6241 0830
You’ve probably already heard about Fatcat Ice Cream Bar, because their Charcoal Waffles with Salted Egg Yolk Sauce is no stranger to Instafame. If we’re being completely honest here, I have to admit that I’m sometimes kind of wary about Salted Egg Yolk anything. One too many places have jumped on the bandwagon with sub-par interpretations of the unique flavour (*glances furtively at BreadTalk*).

Fatcat, to give them credit though, has done Salted Egg Yolk right with their Instafamous waffles. The Salted Egg Yolk taste is strong enough that you feel satisfied, but pared down to complement the sweetness of the ice cream and waffle.
If you’re not into Salted Egg Yolk, Fatcat also has an interesting selection of ice cream flavours that might pique your interest instead. The flavours change regularly, but some of the more interesting ones include Butter Beer, Sea Salt Matcha and Watermelon Soju. They also do fancier plated desserts, which change seasonally.
Must-try dessert: Gourmet Charcoal Waffle with Salted Egg Yolk Sauce (but of course, right?). Just be prepared to wait before digging into your dessert, because someone at the table is definitely going to want to Snapchat it. #justsayin

3. Dessert Project
Address: 22 Havelock Road #01-673, Singapore 160022 | Opening Hours: 12pm – 9.30pm (Mon to Thu & Sun), 12pm – 11pm (Fri & Sat)
Dessert Project is all about ice cream and carbs (incidentally two of my favourite types of food), so it’s no surprise that their Shibuya Toast is one of the stars of their menu.
(Source: Dessert Project Facebook)
Their signature Nutella Toast consists of two scoops of ice cream on a warm bed of buttery toast (thick, of course), drizzled with homemade Nutella sauce and nuts. Yes, it’s diabetes waiting to happen and yes, you’ll probably be like “Oh lordy what have I done” after eating it but….boy is it worth the calories (and subsequent sugar-induced coma). I say bring a friend, share the calories and #treatyoself.

Must-try dessert: Nutella Toast, but if you want a lighter option then go for the waffles instead.
4. Laurent Bernard Chocolatier
Address: The Pier at Robertson Quay #01-11, Singapore 239013 | Opening Hours: 6pm – 11pm (Mon), 1pm – 11pm (Tue to Sun) | Tel: 6235 9007
As its name may suggest, Laurent Bernard Chocolatier specialises in all things chocolate. Cakes, tarts, ice cream, truffles – you name it, they’ve got it. They do have a few other flavours for their cakes and ice cream, but really, the chocolate cakes are where it’s at.
If you only have space for one cake (feeling guilty are we now), go for the Truffle Cake, which has three layers of chocolate and a tangy raspberry filling. It’s surprisingly not as overkill as it sounds, and yes it’s worth the calories.

I have to say though – the outlet at Robertson Quay seems to be quite popular with couples on date nights, so I suggest you take-away if you don’t share the same lovey-dovey sentiments as them. Who needs a man when you got chocolate cake to cuddle up to am I right.
Must-try dessert: Truffle Cake or the Trianon (chocolate cream with a hazelnut base).

5. Sunday Folks
Address: 44 Jalan Merah Saga, #01-52 Chip Bee Gardens, Singapore 278116 | Opening Hours: 1pm – 10pm (Tue to Thu), 1pm – 11pm (Fri), 12pm – 11pm (Sat), 12pm – 10pm (Sun) | Tel: 6479 9166
When Sunday Folks first opened at Chip Bee Gardens, I was truly quite torn. While the soft serve ice cream was one-of-a-kind, getting a table there was not the most relaxing experience. Think battling it out with a chattering crowd of camera-wielding Instagrammers.
In fact, I was waiting for a table once and this girl took like (I swear, not kidding) 30 photos of her dessert from varying angles. I was this close to yanking the phone out of her hands and shouting “Gurlllll you need to just eat that already, or imma eat it for you” but alas, I was too woozy from the lack of sugar in my system.

Anyway, my point is – Sunday Folks seems to have a better system in place now, and getting a table there isn’t quite as hectic as before. Even though the whole soft-serve ice cream hype has somewhat died down, the ice cream at Sunday Folks still remains as delicious as ever. And if you’re wondering about whether to order the waffles – just do it. #NORAGRATS

Must-try dessert: Earl Grey Lavender Soft Serve (with waffles, if you please).
6. Dolcetto By Basilico
Address: The Regent Hotel, 1 Cuscaden Road (Lobby Level), Singapore 249715 | Opening Hours: 7.30am – 9pm daily | Tel: 6725 3243
Located at the upscale Regent Hotel, one would probably assume that the cakes and desserts at Dolcetto by Basilico are expensive. I mean, they definitely look expensive. You know, like the kind Tai Tais buy for when they have luncheons (not just a simple lunch OK, luncheon) with their other Tai Tai friends.
Surprisingly though, the cakes at Dolcetto By Basilico are not as exorbitant as you would think. And hey, if Tai Tais approve of them, then they must be quality stuff right?
(Source: Regent Singapore Facebook)
Carefully crafted by the pastry chefs from Regent Hotel’s Basilico restaurant, Dolcetto’s Italian-inspired cakes and pastries are truly a treat for your tastebuds. Try the Amedei Chocolate cake, which has layers of chocolate sponge cake, chocolate fudge and crunchy chocolate nibs.
The store itself is quite small, but there are seats located just outside, so you can have a little Tai Tai tea party of your own.
Must-try dessert: Amedei Chocolate Cake
