Want to impress your date, but on a tight budget? Check out these affordable restaurants that look more expensive than they really are. Go on, we won’t tell.
French food can get quite pricey in Singapore, but L’Entrecote is one of the more affordable options out there. Besides their signature Steak and Fries, the French brasserie also has a decent selection of French-style favourites – think Foie Gras, Roasted Chicken and Duck Leg Confit.
The outlet at Suntec City (which is the only one that accepts reservations everyday) also has a special Valentine’s Day menu from 12 to 14 February. For just $78++ per couple, you and your date will get to savour a 3-course menu with a choice of 2 different mains.

Nestled in the basement of Palais Renaissance, Ishinomaki Grill & Sake Bar is a great spot for a quiet dinner away from the hustle and bustle of Orchard Road. Sure, the prices may not be as cheap as some other izakaya bars, but the food there is definitely worth the price for the quality you’re getting.
Besides a wide range of yakitori and sake on the menu, Ishinomaki Grill & Sake Bar also has familiar favourites like the Salmon Chirashi Don and Nigiri Sushi. Remember to ask about the catch of the day too.

If you or your date are picky eaters, Platypus Kitchen just might be a good bet. The menu includes a wide range of delectable dishes, from Japanese rice bowls to handmade pasta. They also have a Lobster Roll, which at just $26.90, is really not too shabby for what you’re paying.
If you’re planning a night out with your girlfriends, you might appreciate their attractive cocktail prices too – $6 on your first drink, and $16 a pop for subsequent cocktails. Platypus Kitchen also has a Valentine’s Day menu, starting at $35.90 per person for a 3-course meal.

Started by the guys behind upscale Italian restaurant OTTO Ristorante, 2It&Drink is a more affordable option for pasta and pizza lovers. The casual restaurant serves up a decent selection of freshly-made pasta, as well as wood-fire oven baked pizzas.
The dessert menu is not to be overlooked either, with Italian classics like Tiramisu and Gelato to end your meal on a sweet note.

Perched atop Mount Faber hill, Spuds & Aprons not only offers affordable food, but a fantastic view of the Sentosa skyline as well. The menu is a mix of Western and Asian Fusion, with dishes like Chilli Crab In A Tux (chilli crab stuffed in potato skins) and Tobiko Crusted Cod Fillet.
Granted, the website and menu leave uh, much to be desired but the breathtaking views and affordable prices more than make up for it. The restaurant has an alfresco garden area where you can enjoy the nighttime breeze, as well as an air-conditioned dining room for those who prefer to be indoors (so your makeup won’t melt, duh).
