Best Film Fashion

Let’s face it – not all of us can pull off the uber fashion-forward ensembles from Sex and the City. Check out our list below and see how you can get that winning movie-inspired look.

1. Mean Girls (2004)
Starring Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams and Amanda Seyfried

(Source: IMDb)

Before her messy legal woes  and multiple mug shots stole tabloid headlines, La Lohan starred in this iconic teen flick about Queen Bees and wannabes in school – complete with cat fights and clique wars.

The girls’ wardrobe consisted of miniskirts, tank tops and heels in bright hues – think an updated version of the 1990’s teen cult classic, Clueless. We don’t know about you, but our secondary school uniform did not consist of cute tees and dainty heels.

With coveted Sex and the City costume designer Patricia Field at the styling reigns, The Devil Wears Prada bombards you with fashion orgasms throughout the movie. From leather bomber jackets to crisp white blouses, this film has it all. If only we could all show up to work in Prada. Le sigh.

3. Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009)
Starring Isla Fisher and Hugh Dancy

Here’s a film for those looking to make a bold statement (read: fashion on steroids). If you’re not afraid of experimenting with fashion and standing out from the crowd, you should take cues from main character Rebecca Bloomwood. Her eye-catching and playfully stylish outfits almost make us want to don a beret and winter gloves, despite the 30-degree weather outside.

5. The Tourist (2010)
Starring Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie

Source: IMDb

We would never have expected such an action-packed film to showcase some major, and I mean mayh-jour, fashion eye candy. A-lister Angelina Jolie ups the fashion quotient in this movie with the many handmade dresses designed by Colleen Atwood. If you’re one to crave a vintage-inspired look that exudes timeless elegance, this would be your go-to film.

6. Casino Royal (2006)
Starring Daniel Craig and Eva Green

Source: IMDb

Here’s one for the boys! International man of mystery James Bond (aka Daniel Craig) may be already blessed with the good genes to look good in a Speedo, but you’ve got to admit that the man’s got some serious style. Pair a spiffy tailored tux with a contrasting dinner jacket, and you’re almost on your way to becoming a suave, badass and villain-fighting spy.

7. Alfie (2004)
Starring Jude Law, Marisa Tomei, Sienna Miller

Source: Hollywood Jesus

Take a leaf out of ladies’ man Alfie’s book and pair a dark, slim-cut suit with some shiny dress shoes. Can you say babe-magnet?

For less formal affairs, lose the tie and replace it with a knitted scarf and a pair of fashionable sneakers (and no, New Balance sneakers are not the same thing). Yes, real lads CAN pull off scarfs.  Now get going chaps!
