Cool Singaporean Labels You Should Know About

If the first thing that comes to mind when you hear ‘local fashion label’ is ‘blogshop copy’, then hopefully your mindset will change after reading this article. From accessories to swimwear, here are a couple of fashion labels that have put Singapore on the sartorial map.

Koonhor

Available at koonhor.com and shopthemag.com. Prices range from SGD840 – SGD1799.

You probably wouldn’t guess that this international label had any links to Singapore, but the founders of Koonhor were actually born and raised in Singapore and Indonesia. Designers Koon Lim and Catrine Thé met in New York, and have worked together over the years to cultivate the label.

Currently based in Milan, the label caters to the modern day woman who has a bold yet sleek style. Vogue Italia personally picked Koonhor to showcase its Autumn/Winter 2012 collection on ‘Who is on Next?’, a prestigious event that recognises up-and-coming designers.

Koonhor offers free shipping for Singapore orders within an estimated 3-5 working days. Refunds will be accepted (with conditions) but exchanges of items are not allowed.

Xevana

Available at xevana.com and revolveclothing.com. Prices range from USD59 – USD236.

If you’re looking for bold and chunky accessories to jazz up your outfit, Xevana pretty much has it all. Best known for their stacklaces (yes, it’s a thing – stacked necklaces, geddit?), these aren’t just any ordinary necklaces you can buy at H&M. The chunky statement necklaces have removable chains, so you can mix and match layers to suit your outfit of the day. Xevana also has a range of arm candy to complement their stacklaces, including cuffs and hand jackets.

Designer and founder Eva Soh grew up in Singapore, and came up the idea of stacklaces when she found herself stacking necklaces while travelling in Paris.

Xevana offers free shipping for Singapore orders within an estimated 1-2 working days. Exchanges and refunds are handled on a case-to-case basis.

Mileti

Available at miletiswimwear.com and shopthemag.com, Prices range from USD67.40 – USD187.80.

Cheap Bangkok bikinis, step aside. Swimwear label Mileti will make you feel like you’re in the Bahamas (wind in your hair and all) – even if you’re only at East Coast Park. Founded by Singaporean Yu Chia Min and Swiss art gallery owner Letizia Cramer, the label uses a lightweight Italian fabric to provide both comfort and shape retention.

Mileti has already gotten positive reviews from Vogue UK (among many other local and international publications), and Beyoncé was even spotted in one of their swimsuits. How’s that for putting Singapore on the sartorial map?

Shipping rates vary. Exchanges or refunds of unused items are accepted within 7 days of the delivery date of your order. Mileti is also available at various stockists in Singapore and around the world.

This homegrown cult label offers unique accessories for those who want to make a statement. The designs are a fusion of textures and colours, and each item is carefully crafted by designers Aaron Kao and Vivi Lim. Vice & Vanity has received glowing reviews in the fashion industry ever since its inception, and even scored a collaboration with Charles & Keith in 2013.
