Change up your #FOTD with these cool makeup trends for Fall 2017.
1. Metallic Lipstick
Channel vampy vibes with a metallic lippie, which is a fresh take on the overwhelmingly popular matte lip trend (thanks, Kylie). While the look may not exactly be office appropriate or family friendly, it will definitely score your #fotd plenty of likes.
How To Wear It
When it comes to metallic lipstick, you either go big or go home. The look is neither subtle nor simple, so the best way to pull it off is bold and beautiful. Pair your metallic lipstick with smokey eyes (bonus points if you match your eyeshadow to your lip colour), contoured cheeks and strong brows. Keep blusher to a minimum to avoid looking garish.
For precise and long-lasting lip colour application, try using a lip primer or pencil to create a smoother base for the lip product to adhere to. All set to try out the trend? We like the metallic lip colours from NYX Cosmetics and Lime Crime.

2. Gold Highlighter
2017 sure has been a good year for the highlighter. From faking the fresh-faced post-facial glow to Kim K-worthy strobing, highlighters have been well, the highlight of every beauty junkie’s makeup collection. This season, level up your highlighter game by going for the gold – literally, we mean.
How To Wear It
Gold highlighter may seem like a scary prospect, but it can actually create a warm glow when blended with bronzer and a peach-toned blusher. Complete the look with natural eye makeup and a glossy lip for the perfect bronzed goddess vibe. Tempted to try it out? We like Fenty Beauty’s Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in Trophy Wife and Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector in Prosecco Pop.

3. Pink Eyeshadow
Barbie pink may not exactly be #trending for lipstick shades, but it’s slowly making a comeback as the go-to hue for eyeshadow. While the smokey eye is always a safe bet, we dare you to to think pink for an unexpected throwback to the ’90s. Be it matte or metallic, pink eyeshadow will definitely make your peepers pop.
How To Wear It
The key to pulling off pink eyeshadow is to blend the colour well – after all, you want to look chic, not contagious right? Tone down the bright shade by using concealer as a base, then create a bit of shine with a dab of eye gloss. If you want to go a little bolder, try blue or white liner to make the colours pop more. Complete the look with long, voluminous lashes, neutral lip colour and a hint of blusher.
Need recommendations? Try an eyeshadow palette, such as Tarte’s Tarteist PRO Amazonian Clay Palette for more versatility. If you don’t want to invest in pink eyeshadow just yet, you can always swipe a bit of colour from a similar lipstick shade instead.

4. Graphic Cat Eye
The classic Cat Eye has undergone a revamp this season, and boy is it worth a try. Chaotic yet controlled, the Graphic Cat Eye brings out your features with unconventional flair. While it can be tricky to execute well, the look is versatile enough to work for various occasions – yup, even in the daytime.
How To Wear It
Since your eyes are supposed to be the star of the show, you might want to tone down the rest of your makeup – let’s just say that this isn’t the look to go all out with your highlighter, so try to keep your glow on the down low. Complete the look with nude lips and a hint of blusher instead.
Need an eyeliner to get creative with? Maybelline’s Eye Studio Hypersharp Liner is precise enough to create even the thinnest lines, while L’Oreal’s Superliner Blackbuster is perfect for thicker and bolder strokes.

5. Super Shine Pout
Step aside matte liquid lipsticks, because it’s time for something else to shine in the spotlight. The super glossy lip is here to stay, stray hairs be damned (because they always get stuck in your lip gloss). The best part about the trend? You don’t have to worry about your lips drying out, because the super shine pout is all about the plump and gloss.
How To Wear It
Prep your lips with a primer or liner to prevent the colour from bleeding, then start off with a base colour. Layer over with a high shine lip gloss and your pout will be perfect (and dare we say, very kissable). If you want to go a little bolder, try dabbing some Vaseline or gloss over your eyeshadow too.
Try out the trend with The Birthday Collection from Kylie Cosmetics or the Enamoured Hi-Shine Gloss by Marc Jacobs Beauty.
